AN URBAN PLOT: Scientist warns of dire consequences
http://anurbanplot.blogspot.com/2010/06/scientist-warns-of-dire-consequences.html
Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Scientist warns of dire consequences. Ignoring potential non-target detrimental side effects of any chemical, especially used as heavily as glyphosate (Monsanto's RoundUp herbicide), may have dire consequences for agriculture such as rendering soils infertile, crops non-productive, and plants less nutritious. To do so might well compromise not only agricultural sustainability, but also the health and well-being of animals and humans.". Read more on this warning here. Chronicles on...

AN URBAN PLOT: Change the World: Go Organic
http://anurbanplot.blogspot.com/2010/06/change-world-go-organic.html
Monday, June 14, 2010. Change the World: Go Organic. If you do just one thing to change the world, go organic.". Going organic is the single most critical (and most DOABLE) action we can take right now to stop our climate crisis. Every acre of ground that's farmed organically has the potential to pull thousands of pounds of warming greenhouse gases out of our air.". Organic farming is a real, attainable solution to our current global climate crisis! Gloria, Dakota Garden. June 14, 2010 at 7:03 PM. Incide...

AN URBAN PLOT: HazMat on the Farm
http://anurbanplot.blogspot.com/2010/03/hazmat-on-farm.html
Sunday, March 28, 2010. HazMat on the Farm. I found this image along with an article called How to Protect Yourself from 7 Food-System Threats. At Rodale.com. It is a piece that obviously talks about what you can do. It is a great article and I urge you to read it, ask questions and implement their suggestions wherever you can. I guess what struck me the most, was this image! I just had to share it with you. Look at those hazardous materials suits. At first look, does it say farming to you? Thats why Im ...

AN URBAN PLOT: February 2010
http://anurbanplot.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 19, 2010. No one Can Really Know the Price We Will Pay. Over the last few posts, I have focused on reasons to avoid genetically modified food. The reasons are many and I for one am convinced that the path we are on with GMOs in our food supply and environment is the wrong path. I believe that they are harmful in more ways than we can ever imagine. I encourage you to continue to inform yourself and to speak out and take action. Check out the website for GM Watch. Barb Lutz' Green House: Long Overdue Update
http://barbsgreenhouse.blogspot.com/2010/07/long-overdue-update.html
Barb Lutz' Green House. Friday, July 30, 2010. Wow, it's been 3 1/2 months since I've written on my blog. I just got worn out from working full-time, taking care of my mom, and trying to finish things up around the house, especially the landscaping. There were just so many things left undone when we moved in. Alex got about halfway, working with a pickax before the rains came. The cistern is still making a mess of the back yard because there's still a hole there messing everything up. Current View of Lot.

Barb Lutz' Green House: June 2009
http://barbsgreenhouse.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Barb Lutz' Green House. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. June was a slow month. I was severely injured when I was in the basement nailing foam insulation. Some pictures: my brother Cliff removed the driveway running through the back yard, and this picture was taken after I had started filling in the hole. I was just starting to get the hang of the Bobcat before the accident. Here's the asphalt waiting to be picked up to be recycled. You can see the work Cliff did backfilling. Around the front window wells.

The Rural City Dweller: June 2009
http://myurbanhomestead.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 27, 2009. Well, a lot has changed since I last posted. I did not get to go to Chicago or New Orleans. A lot of stuff happened in both my son's life and mine, and the trip is now postponed indefinitely. I am very sad about this, but excited at the same time. I am choosing wisely, because I want this to be the last time I ever have to move in my life. I'm looking seriously at both south Georgia and New Orleans. Very different kinds of places, but places I could feel at home. A Single Mom's A...

The Rural City Dweller: August 2008
http://myurbanhomestead.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2008. The Un-Update to The Urban Homestead Story. So this isn't much of an update. I've done pretty much nothing, other than nurture the few plants I had started to sell, and toss some of the free horse manure around a banana tree, along with some kitchen scraps, which gave me melons growing around it. I guess that's progress of a sort, right? Does it count that I actually picked about 10 cherry tomatoes from my one potted plant, and rooted three suckers for the fall garden? About My ...
