3 normal ladies training for the 2013 Dallas Marathon. 17 miles, and I cried at the end. December 9, 2013. The marathon was scheduled for 12/8 (yesterday). Friday they canceled it because the weather has been crazy in Dallas and the conditions just aren’t safe for running. We were all really bummed. We’ve trained for this for MONTHS and then it didn’t happen. It sucked. So I sat around Friday and watched movies and wallowed in self-pity, popcorn, and hot chocolate. YOU CAN’T DO IT! So in saying that, I am always excited to recommit and get some action going! And consequently the 1 thing I needed to let go of was PROCRASTINATION. And his response was (ever the wise grandfather) You know, if I need to do something, I don’t put it off, I do it right then so that I don’t forget yep, I need to adopt this mindset. 81 miles Saturday (9:41 avg pace).

Before I was a runner, I’m not sure what I would have thought if I walked past a sweaty, red-faced girl jogging while laughing away to herself. It probably wouldn’t have been good, though. For that reason, I don’t recommend town long runs while listening to David Mitchell’s autobiography. It feels so efficient…. Small island, surprised runner.
